MOVING INTO AN OLD CHAPEL IN WALES

In an attempt to do something interesting, yet safe, during these crazy pandemic times I decided to move into an old chapel in North Wales with a bunch of hippy tech nerds. So we eat vegan and go swimming in the creek naked but we also have seven 3D printers…

It’s pretty rural, just on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. I found this place on the Workaway website, where people post different volunteering opportunities. I wasn’t 100% sure exactly what this place was about or what I would be doing but it sounded interesting, and now I live with in a chapel with a bunch of characters, such as an American buddhist, a guy from Hong Kong called Manuel and an English lawyer who does a nightly online chess livestream wearing goggles and a hat, with no heat and 2 cats.

It’s such a beautiful place, with stunning views everywhere you look. It’s definitely a different pace of life here, something I’m still getting used to. I need to figure out how to be productive on a sustainable level. I like making lists, lots of lists, about everything and anything. And for the most part, that helps me feel more sane and on top of things. But it can also mean I can end up setting expectations too high for myself, and then beating myself up when I don’t achieve enough. So one of my goals being here is to find balance, to figure out a slow way of life that feels full and productive.
