EVERYDAY MAKE-UP FAVOURITES

When I was a teenager, I loved makeup; I would watch countless tutorials on YouTube and would practice even when I wasn’t going out. However, in recent years, I’ve been wearing less and less. Nowadays I keep things very simple and only play around with makeup every once in a blue moon. I am still working on curating every element of my everyday kit but I think I’ve found some real gems.

Tarte Bronzer For so long, I did understand the purpose of bronzer and never used it. However, I recently started putting it around the edges of my face. I apply it with a duel ended brush from Tarte, so if I do want to get a bit more precise, I can use the small brush, but I normally just use the larger end. I just find it gives your face more dimension and a bit of a glow (although the bronzer itself is completely matte).

Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray As an oily skin gal, setting spray has became my best friend. I use it as a primer so I spray my face before doing my makeup, which is a tip I saw on YouTube many years ago. I then spray it again after apply all my make-up (except mascara), and set it with powder. The oil inevitably comes through on my nose but this is the best way of keeping it at bay that I’ve found. Note: Urban Decay is cruelty-free but it is owned by L’Oreal, who are not. You can find a list of Urban Decay’s vegan products here.

Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Powder I wasn’t sure I was cut out for a loose powder as I’m a clumsy person, but the container actually works quite well to keep it secure as long as you remember to cover the holes. I apply it with a dry beauty blender, which I feel is maybe a controversial choice and not what you’re suppose to do, but I started doing it while trying to figure out how to bake so I see this as a kind of “mini-bake”.

Glossier Stretch Concealer I wasn’t completely sure when I first got this concealer but I’ve come to really love it. Like most Glossier products, it’s very natural looking. I’m not a big fan of putting concealer on spots, I think it’s just hard to do it without it looking dry and cake-y, but this does a good job of covering my under eye circles.

Anastasia Brow Wiz I think brows might be the most important part of my makeup. Even if I do nothing else, I tend to do my eyebrows. I like the brow wiz because it’s easy to use and looks natural.

Glossier Boy Brow I use boy brow to set my brows after using Anastasia Brow Wiz. It darkens up any light hairs and keeps them in place.

Glossier Balmdotcom I think I might be slightly addicted to this stuff. I normally use the plain one but recently bought the “Birthday Cake” flavour, which has a little sparkle, and have been liking it. I would like to find a more natural lip balm if I’m honest, but I’m very picky about the consistency.

Tweezerman Eyelash Curler I’m still searching for the perfect eyelash curler; this one is good, but I wouldn’t mind trying another one to see what else is out there.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush I’m not much of a blush person as my cheeks are naturally pretty pigmented, but if I do use one, I like this one a lot. It’s also small, which I like because it’s so hard to use up a blush.

NYX Worth the Hype Brown Mascara I’m not sure this is my favourite mascara but it’s cheap and works nicely. I only recently got into brown mascara, but I’m really liking it. It give definition but is less harsh than black and gives a more natural look.

Charlotte Tilbury “Rock n Kohl” Eye Liner This isn’t something I use all the time but if I’m going out at night and want more definition around my eyes, I find this good. I use it in the brown shade as, similar to brown mascara, it’s less harsh than black.

Kylie Cosmetics gloss I don’t know how I feel about supporting Kylie Cosmetics but I bought this a while ago, and I have to admit I really like it. I’m not a big lip stick person, but this gives me a nice nude look without drying out my lips or looking too harsh. The shade I use is called “Too Cute”.

So that’s it, those are the products I use whenever I’m applying make-up. As I noted in the descriptions, there are a few that I don’t love, but for the most part, these have become my holy grail items. Looking through the products I use regularly, I have realised I need to start finding more eco-friendly and natural products, however, I’ve worked for years to hone in on what I need from a product and find a cruelty-free version, so for now, I’m happy with what I’m currently using.
